The Eta Society promotes professionalism while maintaining an unbreakable sense of community among the members involved in this truly unique professional sorority.

History

The Eta Society for Global Affairs changed its name from Delta Phi Epsilon in the summer of 2023. Eta’s shift reflects a trend toward inclusivity; however, we are so proud of our time as Delta Phi Epsilon Foreign Service Sorority (DPE). DPE is the only professional Foreign Service fraternity and sorority in the United States. The fraternity was founded at Georgetown University in 1920, and the sorority in 1973. It is currently active at Georgetown University, the George Washington University, American University, University of California Berkeley, University of the Pacific, and most recently Michigan State University. The George Washington University’s chapter, the Eta chapter, was founded in the fall of 2005 and has since welcomed a new class during the spring of each year.
